Donkey Kong 64 reference out of place

[edit]

To fresh eyes reading this article, it’s blindsiding and awkward to be reading a whole paragraph about Mortal Kombat and its history relating to JCVD… only to have some mention about a Donkey Kong game slapped on the end. Wha? At the very least this should be reworded or separated to another line/paragraph. 209.171.88.86 (talk) 21:02, 23 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What's My Name? (TBA)

[edit]

Needs to be added. This will Van Damme's final film. Thanks 176.27.25.141 (talk) 11:49, 12 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Change "Swing Moods" to "Mood Swings"

[edit]

Under Personal section the term mood swings is miswritten — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mannycastaneda (talkcontribs) 23:26, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

no No action since it's a direct quote. ★Ama TALK CONTRIBS 13:24, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cochise use

[edit]

Just an obersavtion--10 grams per day=70 grams per week=a lot less than $10,000, especially 25 years ago. 2600:387:15:517:0:0:0:A (talk) 21:48, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Add the title "Ramez Movie Star" under the list of TV series which Jean-Claude Van Damme has acted in, since he is a co-host alongside Ramez Galal. This show is airing in 2022 during the month of Ramadan on MBC channels. Here is an English article which talks about it from Arab News (https://www.arabnews.com/node/2057471/lifestyle) NiceCrispyBac0n (talk) 18:21, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting proposal

[edit]

I propose that sections Filmography be split into a separate page called "Jean-Claude Van Damme filmography". This section is large enough to make its own page. Thank you.Filmman3000 (talk) 23:30, 28 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Public image and influence

[edit]

In the French-speaking world, Van Damme is well known – and often mocked – for the picturesque aphorisms that he delivers on a wide range of topics (personal well-being, spirituality, the environment, women, dogs, his ability to crack walnuts with his buttocks, his realization that Christianity is flawed based on the fact that "snakes are nice" and "apples contain pectin which is anti-cholesterol", etc.) in a sort of Zen franglais. - THE FOLLOWING LINK IS BROKEN. Sorry, I am not common with suggesting edits to a protected page. I'd love to see Van Damme's "Zen Franglais", btw. Otec nixon (talk) 21:43, 13 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This whole paragraph is vague and confusing. What sort of specific statements has he made, and where have those statements been mocked? (I believe they exist; they should be cited specifically to be relevant to inclusion on this wiki page.) The phrase "French-speaking world" is overly general as many countries/regions speak French, and a single discourse can't be applied to every person that speaks a particular language. "From thereon" - we have a word for that

[edit]

May I suggest "Thereafter"? Less clunky.

"commercially successful movies"

[edit]

Double Team and Knock Off were also box office hits and actually made more than the likes of Cyborg, Lionheart, and Double Impact. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.44.196.37 (talk) 08:53, 16 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I’ve added both Double Team and Knock Off. They both managed to make back their budget and made a profit, even if they weren’t as successful as Van Damme’s previous movies. Rizzle685 (talk) 14:09, 11 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The budget for Double Team is actually unsourced in both the Van Damme article and the Double Team article, so we don’t really know if it was a box-office success. WushuFighter (talk) 12:52, 12 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Probable sockpuppet activity

[edit]

In the interest of caution over a WP:BLP, I'm just leaving a note that this article seems to have been particularly targeted by a sockpuppeteer over the last few months. Theriddler1234, Whodatttt, Ziggy Wiggy Figgy, Jackie786, Iftar7376 are all suspected sockpuppets which have edited here during that time. I've reverted their last bit of edit-warring ([1]), but I'm not familiar with this topic and it would be a lot of work to try and manually revert all their edits on my own anyways, so I'm leaving it to others to check if their earlier edits introduced any problematic material. R Prazeres (talk) 00:54, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@R Prazeres: In the spirit of WP:DENY, even though the edits weren't vandalism, some were not constructive, so I have rolled back the article to the version before the sockpuppets got involved. ~Anachronist (talk) 17:39, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Update: Since about 5 October (starting with this), most of the edits on this article have been by more confirmed sockpuppet accounts of the same user noted above, namely: WushuFighter, Hero7373, Rizzle685. Again, I don't have time to review all those edits manually, so I invite other article editors to scrutinize and/or revert if needed. I think it's also safe to assume that new sockpuppets will likely continue to show up here. R Prazeres (talk) 23:33, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 07:15, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I’ve added a reliable source for that. WushuFighter (talk) 19:36, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

His fight record

[edit]

What the hell is a KKO?? His record has mention of KO's and KKO's. 40 years of martial arts, and I've never heard/read KKO. And google gives me nothing. Torydude (talk) 06:30, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

KKO is Kick KnockOut or Technical Kick KnockOut in World Kickboxing and Karate Union rules.
---
> Whenever a contestant is knocked out primarily as a result of a kick, whether or not the kick occurred in combination with punches, the referee shall declare the contestant’s opponent to be the winner by either kick knockout or technical kick knockout, whichever is appropriate and shall be entered into the fighter’s official record as a KKO.
---
Btw, according to Thom Harinck the 19-1 record is obviously fake and Van Damme to his knowledge never competed in full contact kickboxing.
